Description of Work       

Develop and provide training and professional development for Academic Advisors, Career Advisors/Coaches, as well as campus partners, faculty, staff, and students on advising/career related services, systems, resources, policies and procedures. Collaborate closely with leaders in the advising and career development communities to design training and professional development for both new and experienced staff. The coordinator will promote the connected and overlapping impact of academic advisors and career advisors/coaches on students as the students learn about themselves, explore and evaluate academic and career options, and gain experience that will lead to success at UNL and after graduation. Training will leverage and promote the centrally coordinated and de-centrally delivered model of academic advising and career development at the University. The coordinator will align training and professional development activities with best practice standards and competencies as articulated by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the National Association for Colleges and Employers (NACE) and Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) in Higher Education. The coordinator will engage in assessment of training/professional development and assist in the provision of 1:1 advising/coaching services during high traffic times.

Minimum Required Qualifications            

Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of full-time coaching/advising experience post-graduation required. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student backgrounds necessary. Must have experience using student information systems and technology platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of coaching/advising experience post-graduation desirable. Prefer demonstrated project management experience. Ability to develop content and experience providing/developing training/professional development programs helpful.

Posted Salary: $40,000 minimum
